Life-Saving Access at Your Fingertips.
We partnered with Turning Point, who support over 197,000 with their services, to design a mobile app that supports harm reduction at scale — connecting people who use opioids, their families, and support workers to vital resources like Naloxone, overdose response tools, and stigma-free guidance in just a few taps.

Reducing Harm. Empowering People.
Turning Point is a leading UK social enterprise focused on supporting people with complex needs. One of its most urgent missions is reducing harm caused by opioids — and doing so through compassion, clarity, and accessibility. Despite increasing availability of resources like Naloxone, many people who use drugs still struggle to access trusted information, crisis support, or local harm reduction services.
The organisation needed a digital tool that would meet people where they are — whether that’s in the middle of a city or in a moment of crisis. The goal: deliver vital, life-saving resources through an easy-to-use, anonymous, and always-available mobile app.
Key challenges included:
- Helping users locate Naloxone and NSP services instantly, across the UK
- Providing clear, non-judgemental overdose response steps
- Ensuring access to support even without an internet connection
- Designing for inclusivity, accessibility, and low-literacy scenarios
- Building user trust through anonymity and strong data privacy
A Mobile-First Platform for Harm Reduction at Scale.
Arch worked with Turning Point to design a mobile application built around real-world urgency and user dignity. The app supports people who use opioids, their families, outreach workers, and health professionals — offering a fast, anonymous, and accessible way to find services and act in emergencies.
From the outset, the design focused on reducing barriers to use. There’s no account creation, and location use is always consented. Core features like crisis mode, offline support, and Naloxone-specific guidance were prioritised to reflect high-stress situations and urgent need.
Working from a detailed set of user personas and Turning Point’s harm reduction strategy, we designed a modular, component-based mobile interface that prioritises speed, clarity, and trust. The experience is powered by a robust hybrid architecture using Flutter and Laravel, with Filament CMS enabling the Turning Point team to manage content in real time — without developer intervention.
Accessibility was treated as a core design principle, not a feature. We applied WCAG 2.2 AA standards throughout, using plain English and supportive visuals to help users with low literacy, language barriers, or cognitive load. The result is a stigma-free, user-first platform that feels intuitive and empowering — even during moments of crisis.

Outcomes.
The Turning Point app represents a powerful shift in how digital products can support harm reduction. With its MVP now in development, the app is on track to help thousands of people across the UK access life-saving information and services — privately, quickly, and without stigma.
Future phases will build on the strong design foundation, adding features like notifications, service filtering, and enhanced onboarding — all supported by the app’s scalable technical framework.
Above all, the app was designed to support people in their most vulnerable moments, delivering Turning Point’s mission through compassionate design and careful, user-first thinking. By putting accessibility, privacy, and trust at the centre, the platform is not just a digital tool — it’s a lifeline.
