A New home for Coeliac UK Members.

Coeliac UK has helped people with coeliac disease and other gluten-related illnesses live happier, healthier lives for more than 50 years. It pushes for better gluten-free food in more places, gives its community unbiased, reliable guidance and assistance, and funds research into managing the effects of gluten and finding the causes of coeliac disease.

Coeliac UK came to Arch to replace its two apps, each with its own functions, with one app. The new app also had to launch on a strict timeline so the old apps could be retired. Coeliac UK knew what it wanted to achieve and which functions were core to that.

The app is built in Flutter, which runs on Android and iOS from a single codebase. The Laravel backend handles multiple API calls at once. We use a suite of in house developed tools to keep code quality high. The Coeliac UK app connects to their membership management CRM.

The new app puts all the information users need in one place. Earlier versions sent people to an external sign-up, so we built sign-up into the app to simplify subscriptions and onboarding. We used Coeliac UK's brand identity and clear calls to action so users can find relevant content quickly.

For accessibility, we followed WCAG 2.1, reviewing font sizes, colour contrast, layout and navigation. The layout is balanced with a logical visual hierarchy, and we considered sitemaps and user flows to improve usability.
